Chapter 1

Missy tossed and turned in her bed, it was three thirty AM and she couldn't sleep. "The mail won't come for another hour" she said to herself. She rolled over onto her back and stared at the ceiling it was a dark cream in the light of a candle stump. Missy was exactly fourteen years old and ninety-three days, she had thick black hair and green eyes, and and brilliant smile, she liked to read, and play soccer but most of all she wanted to be an actress. She had signed herself up with an online acting agency with thousands of other hopeful teens and she had send her application into at least forty-six different directors but so far not one of them needed a her. But tonight she was expecting a letter that could very well be the movie she was going to star in. The clock struck four AM and missy hopped up and grabbed her coat and stepped outside, she stopped, her stomach felt like their was hundreds of electric eels swimming around, "Be brave" she said to herself,

then slowly but steady she put one foot in front of the other, the world seemed to be going in slow motion she could hear the crunch of gravel beneath her feet but it didn't seem real, the only thing that mattered was the letter. Missy reached the mail box and peered inside, their was only one letter, it read:

Marly acting agency

P.O. Box 1618

Barney, ND, 58008

Missy grasped the letter and rushed back inside, she walked over the the kitchen counter and slowly opened the envelope that held her future, her hands trembled, the sound of ripping paper seemed to echo, she held her breath, and quickly finished opening the letter opening the letter. Slowly, slowly she pulled out the slip of paper and began to unfold it "Missy!" Missy stood at attention, and groaned, it was her mom "get back in bed this instant!"

Missy put the letter in her jacket pocket and trudged upstairs.
